We contributed to Gol's data support and operations, increasing performance and reducing costs by 50%.

Challenge

Gol Airlines, a Brazilian airline founded in 2001, needed to migrate the data from its technological infrastructure, which encompasses the entire Information Technology (IT) structure of the company, to the Oracle Cloud (OCI). One of the main drivers for this change was the fact that approximately 80% of the products used by Gol are from Oracle. Therefore, the idea was to have a guarantee of continuity, compatibility, and support, along with direct involvement of Oracle engineering in the project, from negotiations, provision of pre and post-migration training, hardware maintenance, and updates.

How we contributed

Faced with this challenge, as the company used an on-premise datacenter structure, ilegra had the role of understanding how the structure worked in the old environment, mapping application relationships, and designing plans with maximum efficiency and minimal, or no, downtime, as well as zero chances of data loss.

The result was a performance improvement of around 35% in processes and reports, along with a 50% reduction in support costs and operation of the new environment.

After the implementation and completion of the project, Gol Airlines made advancements in access and processing issues, as well as scheduled maintenance windows executed three times faster, and managerial reports running in a maximum of 40 minutes - previously taking up to three days to generate. Additionally, there was a decrease in database incidents that caused disruptions in airport systems, such as check-in interruptions, long queues, and delays in take-offs.
